This volume provides an overview of the most current research on the link between corporate culture and performance. It also looks at various methods used to assess and measure culture in organizations. After reviewing differing interpretations of what corporate culture actually is, the book examines methods of culture assessment based on • the analysis of aspects of a culture (practices, norms, values, and beliefs) • its origins (generated within the organization or externally) • the purpose of the assessment (gaining an understanding of the cultural context and/or intervention) Each method of cultural assessment is described and evaluated. The book then recommends ways to best assess a particular culture’s relationship to the organization’s performance and the most promising approaches for improving the culture to ensure the corporation’s success.
