Launched in December of 2011, the Mobile Economy Project was a three-year initiative of the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings examining how the rapid expansion of mobile technology around the world is transforming economic opportunity for millions. The Center for Technology Innovation convened leaders from government, business, nonprofits, academia and the media to address major issues presented by the dramatic expansion of mobile technology.

The project examined and documented the impact of the mobile revolution on the economies of developed and developing countries, including the transformation of relationships between businesses and consumers and between governments and citizens.
