The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 increased support for low-income working families by making important expansions to both the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit. At the National Community Tax Coalition’s inaugural Day of Action on Capitol Hill, Elizabeth Kneebone discussed the impact of these expansions on families and communities across the country. She also explored the effects of recent legislative proposals to strengthen the EITC for workers without qualifying children.
