Food Stamp Cuts Would Hit Growing Suburban Poor

Last Thursday House Republicans announced a bill that slashes a proposed $40 billion from the food stamp program. Even if these big cuts don’t become law, every household currently receiving food stamps is scheduled to see a drop in benefit levels in November. Elizabeth Kneebone assesses how this could impact the suburbs, where food stamp usage doubled in the wwake of the Great Recession.
