For a long time, most African countries have had to rely on the help of official donors or multilateral institutions to fill their financing gap. Recently, however, an increasing number of African countries have been able to tap international bond markets. This report published in French in the Revue d’Economie Financière reviews recent trends and developments in the issuance of Eurobonds by sub-Saharan African countries and draw policy lessons.
