Libya: Is the U.S. Prepared for a Long-Term Engagement?

A U.S.-led multinational coalition is enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya as efforts to depose Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi continue. Coalition air strikes targeted Qaddafi’s compound along with several military installations over the weekend as rebels attempting to end Qaddafi’s 42-year rule fought against Libyan forces on the ground. Daniel Byman says that while the Obama administration indicates the U.S. is committed to the rebellion, the fight to unseat Qaddafi could be long and prove costly.
