Martin Indyk is vice president and director of Foreign Policy at Brookings. A former ambassador to Israel and assistant secretary of state for near east affairs during the Clinton administration, he currently focuses on the Clinton administration’s diplomacy and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Michael O’Hanlon specializes in U.S. national security policy. He is senior author of the Iraq Index. A former defense budget analyst who advised members of Congress on military spending, he specializes in Iraq, North Korea, homeland security, the use of military force and other defense issues.
In August 2009, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Barack Obama's nomination of Carlos Pascual as U.S. ambassador to Mexico. He was vice president and director of Foreign Policy at Brookings from 2006 to 2009.
Suzanne Maloney studies Iran, the political economy of the Persian Gulf and Middle East energy policy. A former U.S. State Department policy advisor, she has also counseled private companies on Middle East issues. Maloney recently published a book titled Iran's Long Reach: Iran as a Pivotal State in the Muslim World.
In November 2009, Tamara Cofman Wittes became deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs at the U.S. Department of State. She was at Brookings from 2003 to 2009.
As co-director of the Brookings-Bern Project on Internal Displacement, Beth Ferris focuses on the international community’s response to humanitarian crises, with a particular emphasis on the human rights of internally displaced persons.
