Managing Director, The Brookings Institution
William Antholis is managing director of the Brookings Institution and a senior fellow in Governance Studies. He also directs the Brookings Mountain West Initiative with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Antholis has worked on foreign security and economic policy at the National Security Council and the State Department, and was director of studies at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Director, Energy Security Initiative
Charles Ebinger specializes in international and domestic energy markets (oil, gas, coal and nuclear), the geopolitics of energy, and nuclear non-proliferation, with a particular focus on the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. Ebinger has served as an energy policy advisor to over 50 governments.
Jonathan Elkind was appointed as the principal deputy assistant secretary for policy and international energy at the U.S. Department of Energy in May 2009. He was a nonresident senior fellow at Brookings from 2006-2009.
Suzanne Maloney studies Iran, the political economy of the Persian Gulf and Middle East energy policy. A former U.S. State Department policy advisor, she has also counseled private companies on Middle East issues. Maloney recently published a book titled Iran's Long Reach: Iran as a Pivotal State in the Muslim World.
An international economics expert based in Australia, Warwick McKibbin focuses his research on global climate change; the emergence of China and India into the world economy; and global economic modeling.
Bryan Mignone is an expert on climate policy and energy-economic modeling. He is currently on leave from Brookings, serving as a Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mark Muro, a fellow and director of policy for the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings, manages the program's public policy analysis and leads key policy research projects.
In August 2009, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Barack Obama's nomination of Carlos Pascual as U.S. ambassador to Mexico. He was vice president and director of Foreign Policy at Brookings from 2006 to 2009.
In May 2009, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Barack Obama's nomination of David Sandalow as assistant secretary of energy for policy and international affairs. He was a senior fellow at Brookings from 2004 to 2009.
Peter Wilcoxen’s research focuses on environmental and energy policy, especially national and international policies to address climate change. He is a public administration and economics professor at Syracuse University.
