Missouri has two of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas—St. Louis and Kansas City—which alone account for 56 percent of the state’s population, 61 percent of the state’s jobs, and 69 percent of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). All eight of Missouri’s metros constitute 73 percent of the state’s population, 79 percent of the state’s jobs, and 84 percent of the state’s GDP
