Minnesota has one of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas—Minneapolis—which alone accounts for 59 percent of the state’s population, 64 percent of the state’s jobs, and 73 percent of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). All seven of Minnesota’s metros constitute 73 percent of the state’s population, 77 percent of the state’s jobs, and 84 percent of the state’s GDP.
