Michigan

Michigan has three of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas—Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lansing—which alone account for 57 percent of the state’s population, 61 percent of the state’s jobs, and 66 percent of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). All 15 of Michigan’s metros constitute 81 percent of the state’s population, 85 percent of the state’s jobs, and 88 percent of the state’s GDP.
