Iowa

Iowa has two of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas—Des Moines and Omaha—which alone account for 22 percent of the state’s population, 24 percent of the state’s jobs, and 29 percent of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP). All nine of Iowa’s metros constitute 55 percent of the state’s population, 61 percent of the state’s jobs, and 64 percent of the state’s GDP.
