All prices and availability dates are subject to change without notice.

Booksellers and Wholesalers

All books have a short discount unless the price is followed by a "t" in the Brookings catalog. Discount schedules and information on standing order plans are available on request.

Agency Plan

A preferred discount plan is available to retail accounts that meet minimum stocking requirements. Contact your sales representative for details.

Sales Representatives

The Brookings Institution Press is represented by sales representatives across the U.S. and around the world.  See a full list of our sales reps and the regions they cover.

Individuals

Individuals must prepay in U.S. funds payable on a U.S. bank. MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Call 1-800-537-5487 or 410-516-6956 to place credit card orders.  Or order online at www.brookings.edu/press.

Libraries

Libraries are urged to order books through a wholesaler, but they may order directly from Brookings's distributor by calling 1-800-537-5487.  They may also choose an Annual Subscription or Standing Order plan.

Annual Subscriptions

For one annual payment of $950.00 (prepaid) an institution or individual will receive two semiannual journals, three annual journals, and a copy of every new book Brookings publishes in a twelve-month period.  Call 1-866-698-0010.

Standing Order

Save 20% for each book on standing order. You'll receive the book with an invoice (reflecting a 20% discount off retail) at the time of publication.   Call 1-800-537-5487.

Returns

Booksellers may return books that are clean, unmarked, and free of labels from 90 days until 18 months after the date of invoice. Send to Brookings prepaid, well packed, marked "Returns." To receive full credit, the return package must contain a copy of the invoice, or a listing showing title, quantity, invoice number, discount, and list price. Books not accompanied by this information will be credited at 50% off list price. No credit will be given for books returned in unsaleable condition.

Examination Copies

If a book is being considered for course use, please request an examination copy in writing on letterhead; specify the name of the course and estimated enrollment. Limit your request to three titles. Requests for paperback books must be accompanied by $5 for each book to cover postage and handling. Requests for hardcover books will be invoiced at list price.

We accept checks or credit cards (American Express, Mastercard, Visa). Orders may be mailed to Hopkins Fulfillment Service, P.O. Box 50370, Baltimore, MD 21211-4370. Alternatively, credit card orders may be sent via fax to Hopkins Fulfillment Service, fax number: 410-516-6998.

When a book is ordered for a class, Brookings will provide the professor with one desk copy. If requested by the professor or by the bookstore, we will provide an additional desk copy (for teaching assistants, etc.) for every additional twenty-five books ordered or for every additional twenty-five students enrolled in a course.

Manuscript Acquisition

The Press publishes books written by authors who are not otherwise affiliated with Brookings. These manuscripts should be analytical studies of important public policy issues written for a wide audience. Manuscripts accepted for consideration are subject to the peer review procedures Brookings has maintained over the years.

Authors wishing to present a proposal should contact the acquisitions editor with a brief prospectus, including a description of the work and its intended audience, table of contents, introduction or sample chapter, expected length, projected schedule for completion of the manuscript, and a brief curriculum vitae.

Complete manuscripts should not be sent unless invited and will not be returned. Please note: We do not consider festschriften, memoirs, or unrevised doctoral dissertations.

Queries should be addressed to:
