Omar Ashour joined the Brookings Doha Center as a visiting fellow in the Fall of 2011. His research focuses on jihadism, armed conflict, and Islamist movements and ideologies in the Middle East and Central Asia. He is Lecturer in Politics and Director of the Middle East Politics Graduate Studies Program at the University of Exeter. He is the author of The De-Radicalization of Jihadists: Transforming Armed Islamist Movements.
