Afghans will head to the polls on August 20 in the second presidential election since the Taliban were ousted by U.S.-led forces in late 2001. Despite a resurgent Taliban, Bruce Riedel says that victory in Afghanistan is attainable and that next week’s elections are absolutely critical to the legitimacy of the government.
