French Presidential Elections

On May 6, 2006, Nicolas Sarkozy of the Union for a Popular Movement Party defeated Socialist Ségolène Royal following near-record turnout. Diane Rehm hosted Philip H. Gordon, Senior Fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy; Norm Birnbaum, editorial board member for The Nation; and Corine Lesnes, Washington correspondent for Le Monde. Diane and her guests discussed the outcome of the 2007 French presidential elections as well as possible domestic and foreign implications.
