The elections in Iraq on January 30 have been described as a watershed event, but will this election create an Iraqi government that will be seen as legitimate in the eyes of Iraqis? Ivo Daalder, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Max Boot, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, debate the best approach to bring security to Iraq. Ivo Daalder argues for the need to change Iraqi strategy by sharply reducing the amount of U.S. troops in Iraq and focusing the mission on two main issues: training Iraqi troops and not tolerating foreign influence from Iraq's neighbors.
