Mark Legnini, DrPH

Mark Legnini directs data integration activities to improve clinical performance measures used for quality improvement, provider payment, and public transparency.

Prior to joining Brookings, Dr. Legnini founded the health care consulting practice, The Healthcare Decisions Group; was Associate Director of the Center for Studying Health System Change; and was Senior Vice President of the Economic and Social Research Institute.  Dr. Legnini also was an appointee of California Governor Pete Wilson, for whom he directed a health policy staff involved in measuring the performance of California’s health care providers.  He previously held management positions with Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester, the University of Michigan Hospitals, and with managed care plans in Rochester, NY.

Dr. Legnini was educated at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan School of Public Health, received his doctorate degree from the Yale School of Public Health, and was a Pew Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco.
