Cindy Chen manages projects on health information technology, including the American Health Information Community successor project. She also is the lead staff liaison to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission to Build a Healthier America. Chen also has managed several activities related to the High-Value Health Care Project, a major Robert Wood Johnson-funded initiative to develop and test a single national approach to measure and report information on the quality and cost of care that patients receive.
Prior to joining Brookings, Chen was a senior analyst in the Office of Policy at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), where she contributed to the development of CMS’ information transparency and “Value-Driven Health Care” initiative. Previously, Chen was a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked with hospitals and academic medical centers, in the United States and Qatar, to develop and implement business strategies as well as improve quality of care. She previously worked for the Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare, co-chaired by U.S. Congressman Bill Thomas and U.S. Senator John Breaux.
Chen is a graduate of the University of Washington, and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
