About Global Economy and Development
Global Economy and Development examines the opportunities and challenges presented by globalization, which has become a central concern for policymakers, business executives and civil society, and offers innovative recommendations and solutions in order to materially shape the policy debate.
Global scholars address the issues surrounding globalization within three key areas:
- The drivers shaping the new economy
- The road out of poverty
- The rise of new economic powers
The program is directed by Lael Brainard, vice president and holder of the Bernard L. Schwartz Chair in International Economics.
The program also houses the Wolfensohn Center for Development, a major effort to improve the effectiveness of national and international development efforts.
Global hosts a young professionals program, which is intended for emerging leaders in their 20s, 30s and 40s in the fields of global economics and development. Please contact us for more information on the program, gyp@brookings.edu.
