WANG Feng is widely recognized in both China and the U.S. for his research on social inequality and the changing demographic face of a rapidly modernizing China. Boundaries and Categories: Rising Inequality in Post-Socialist Urban China, one of his latest books, won the 2009 Outstanding Book Award from the American Sociological Association's Asian and Asian American Section. He has conducted social demographic research in China under MacArthur and Ford Foundation grants.
