WANG Feng is widely recognized in both China and the U.S. for his research on social inequality and the changing demographic face of a rapidly modernizing China. Boundaries and Categories: Rising Inequality in Post-Socialist Urban China, one of his latest books, won the 2009 Outstanding Book Award from the American Sociological Association's Asian and Asian American Section.
