Tamara Cofman Wittes

In November 2009, Tamara Cofman Wittes became deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs at the U.S. Department of State. She was at Brookings from 2003 to 2009, where she directed the Middle East Development and Democracy Project.

On March 1, 2012, Wittes returns to Brookings as director of the Saban Center for Middle East Policy. Learn more »
