Mirette F. Mabrouk is a nonresident fellow in the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings. Mabrouk is also the founding publisher of The Daily News Egypt, the country’s only independent English-language daily newspaper. Mabrouk writes about media issues, press freedom and democratic and economic reform.
