In June of 2009 Vicki Huddleston was appointed deputy assistant secretary of defense for Africa at the Department of Defense. She was a visiting fellow at Brookings and co-director of the Brookings Project on U.S. Policy Toward a Cuba in Transition from 2007 to 2009.
