Ten years after the attacks on the United States by al Qaeda, Stephen Grand reflects on the progress the United States has made, and the continuing conduct of the war on terror.

Stephen Grand is a nonresident senior fellow with the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World, housed within the Saban Center for Middle East Policy, in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution. Before coming to Brookings, he was director of the Middle East Strategy Group at the Aspen Institute. Prior to that, Grand served as adjunct professor at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School and was a scholar-in-residence at American University in Washington, DC. From 2002 to 2003, he was an international affairs fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has also served as the director of programs at the German Marshall Fund, and as a professional staff member for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. | View Full Bio
