BPEA Editors

The editors of the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity are Doug Elmendorf of the Brookings Institution, Greg Mankiw of Harvard University, and Lawrence Summers of Harvard University.
  • Doug Elmendorf is a Senior Fellow and the Edward M. Bernstein Scholar in the Economic Studies program at Brookings. He previously served as a staff member of the Federal Reserve Board, Treasury Department, White House Council of Economic Advisers, and Congressional Budget Office.

  • Greg Mankiw is the Robert M. Beren Professor of Economics at Harvard University and was the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 2003 to 2005. Mankiw's introductory economics textbook Principles of Economics has sold more than a million copies and has been translated into twenty languages.

  • Lawrence Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard University. He previously served as president of Harvard University, Secretary of the Treasury, and chief economist of the World Bank. In 1993, he received the John Bates Clark Medal, awarded every two years to the outstanding American economist under the age of 40. Summers also serves on the Brookings Board of Trustees.
