Report to the UN General Assembly: Protection of and Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons
The report is available online in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
This report provides an overview of the main activities undertaken by Chaloka Beyani, the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons (and co-director of the Brookings-LSE Project on Internal Displacement) during the period between August 2011 and July 2012 including visits to Kenya, Afghanistan and Côte d’Ivoire.
The report also contains a thematic section on the evolution of, and challenges and trends relating to, internal displacement over the past two decades, a theme intended to provide an opportunity for reflection in the context of the twentieth anniversary of the mandate and the ongoing challenges and changing realities of internal displacement.
An overview of this report is available in this official press release.
