EITC Main Page
The profiles on this page summarize key characteristics of EITC-eligible taxpayers in each state and in the 100 largest metropolitan areas throughout the country. Click on the state or metro name in the
table below
to download a range of information on the EITC-eligible population in your community, including tax unit features related to EITC eligibility (e.g., filing status, number of qualifying children, size of EITC for which the unit qualifies) and characteristics of EITC-eligible tax filers (e.g., race, educational attainment, language spoken at home, leading occupations).
Organizations that conduct outreach and education around the federal EITC and/or state versions of the credit can use this information to help inform and tailor their efforts.
Note: The estimates in these profiles come from MetroTax, a federal income tax model developed by the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings. While they provide useful information about general economic, demographic, and workforce characteristics of the EITC-eligible population, these estimates cannot be used to determine EITC participation rates or error rates.
