Betsy Biern is vice president for
Development at Brookings, overseeing the Institution's fundraising activities and leading the planning and direction of the Institution's upcoming campaign. She received her bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Prior to joining Brookings, Biern worked as a regional vice president with Community Counselling Service (CCS), an international fundraising consulting and management firm. While at CCS, Biern’s client work included conducting planning studies and assessments and designing and managing campaigns for clients in the healthcare, higher education, association, cultural and global health arenas. Former clients include the New York Presbyterian Hospital, the United Nations Foundation and the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, amongst many others.
Biern also served as director of development for the University of Virginia's Children’s Medical Center. Prior to that, Biern served as a healthcare reform consultant, redesigning Medicaid systems.
