BASIC FUNCTION
Provide oversight for programming standards, development, security, maintenance, technical implementation services and production support for finance and administrative systems of the institution.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum 12 years of experience as a Programmer/Analyst or Technical Specialist in PeopleSoft required. Minimum 12 years of programmer/analyst experience with the set of tools specified in Knowledge/Skills Requirements section required. Must have strong knowledge of SQL, ERP application development and integration with third-party providers required. Knowledge of SharePoint and/or workflow applications required.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Strong knowledge of development ERP development tools (PeopleSoft preferred) and technical experience with SharePoint and/or SQL Server development and workflow applications.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and understanding of databases.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
- Strong analytical skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Experience and understanding of business processes and how they are carried out in systems.
- Ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies and “wear different hats” in a small IT environment.
- Excellent customer relations skills and attention to details.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter with professional attitude and the ability to work in a team environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
50% Application Development
- Develop, upgrade and implement new enhancements and integrations with existing applications.
- Review functional specifications for completeness and technical level of effort.
- Perform technical designs and specifications for data conversions, reports, queries, integrations, interfaces, SQL scripts, and online customizations.
- Develop and unit test custom application code and modifications.
- Configure, develop and modify SharePoint applications.
- Be well versed in diverse technologies such as SQL Server, ERP application development tools, SharePoint development and workflow tools.
- Evaluate and recommend technical solutions that meet business requirements.
20% Technical Coordination
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior developers and/or analysts.
- Resolve, track and keep abreast of recommended application patches and upgrade requirements
- Maintain and track key development objects and migration requests.
- Assist in release planning, reviewing, coordinating of migrations/changes to all finance and administrative applications.
- Assist and liaise with other departments and third party vendors with technical issues and/or business processes.
20% Application Maintenance
- Maintain applications by providing production support and troubleshooting to users including tracking and monitoring issues in service desk incident management system.
- Assist in the creation and modification of new and existing reports, queries to monitor data and output regularly.
- Perform research recommended patches to resolve issues and/or provide additional functionality.
- Update and maintain technical documentation as necessary.
- Document issues and resolutions for future reference.
10% Administration
- Keeps abreast of developments in computer hardware and software technology including application security.
- Be knowledgeable of industry trends in third-party application tools that integrate with Raiser’s Edge, SharePoint, PeopleSoft Financials and/or PeopleSoft HCM.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
