Social Media Internship

The Office of Communications offers several internships throughout the year to individuals with experience in mass communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. These internships offer the challenge of assisting in the day-to-day activities of a busy communications office.

The Office of Communications is seeking an intern to work with our online strategy team to assist in social media. Intern responsibilities would include:

- drafting social media analytics reports
- monitoring social networks of institution and scholars and acting as community manager
- assisting with live events
- drafting posts for Twitter, Facebook, and Google+
- conducting social media research and strategy brainstorming for large-scale projects and research reports

The ideal intern candidate should be skilled at using Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and YouTube; be familiar with other curation and sharing sites; and understand the basic terminology and types of engagement for each network. Experience with social measurement tools, search engine optimization, social advertising, Google Analytics, or Omniture Site Catalyst are a plus.

Undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. We want you to be an essential part of our team and leave the internship with skills critical to success in online communications. Therefore, hours are negotiable, but you should be available between 10-20 hours a week. Please note that this internship is unpaid.

TO APPLY

Please send a cover letter, resume and a schedule of availability (with approximate number of hours per week available to work and approximate start and end dates). Please discuss your qualifications and specifically why you are interested in the internship and highlight the skills mentioned above.
